Building yourself a target

Many people look at financial planning through a lense of tax, investments, structuring, and financial products. But really these are simply tools that we all leverage to achieve the true purpose of financial planning… achieving your goals.

Everything in life starts with a goal and the easiest way to achieve these goals are to break them down piece by piece almost like building a pyramid we don’t start having by having achieved our goal or in the case laying the pinnacle stone, we start with the foundation and build up. To achieve this in our lives for our individual goals we start with a goal in mind and we break it down until the entire goal comprises of simple actionable steps, the importance of this is in removing the feeling that your goal is too far off, to big, too unachievable. A simple example of this applied to your retirement is broken down below, but in reality, there will be many more steps and sub steps that apply to you personally:

As you go down each level it becomes easier to identify tangible steps to take, until you reach a point by point action plan. Your personal circumstances and the goal you are tackling will determine the depth of your pyramid.
